Cypress Mountain was the host again for the second Yeti Snowshoes Series Race last Saturday, March 8th. It was a wet day, but a committed group of participants turned out for the event. The rain came down just before the race began, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the snowshoe racers. Many turned out in bright and colourful costumes- a hot dog and ballerina superheroes among the best costumes of the day. There were two options for racers- a 5km or a 10km run.  You can see the race results here.  Hillsound attended as one of the main sponsors for the day. The team demo’d our range of micro-crampons and a few lucky racers walked away with a free pair of FreeSteps6. It was a great (albeit wet!) event put on by the Yeti Snowshoe Series team that Hillsound was excited to be a part of!

On February 15th the Hillsound team attended the Yeti Snowshoe Fun Run/ Hike at Cypress Mountain in British Columbia, Canada. The event was an opportunity for those that had never tried snowshoeing before to come along and give the sport a try in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Over 40 participants turned out bright and early on the Saturday morning to join in the fun. Cypress Mountain had received new snow in the days preceding the event and with the rain holding off until the afternoon the conditions were near perfect.

Hillsound had a booth at the event to show our products to trail runners and to give away 6 pairs of  FreeSteps6 as prizes. In the shoulder seasons micro-crampons come into their own on Cypress and the other local mountains as conditions become icy and snowshoes are not suitable.

There will be another Yeti/ 5Peaks Snowshoe race happening on March 8th at Cypress Mountain, so come along and check it out!
