It’s been a dismal Winter for the West Coast of Canada, with persistent high temperatures and minimal snowfall. Skiers, snowshoers and snowboarders have lamented the poor conditions and short season, with several ski resorts only opening for a month or two at the most.
For some winter enthusiasts, the poor conditions have presented a new challenge: a quest to find the stashes of powder, small and elusive as they are. Hillsound local brand ambassador, Pat Malaviarachchi, is one such enthusiast. Poor conditions have not stopped Pat from getting out and enjoying one of his favourite activities: snow running.
Here’s what Pat had to say about a recent sojourn into the local mountains with the Trail Crampon Ultras:
“Despite very little snow on the North Shore, I found a good stash in Christmas Gully, a prominent sun-protected chute that heads up Mount Strachan. The snow was rock hard but my Hillsound Trail Crampon Ultras performed beautifully. I had full confidence even as the gully became steeper. After topping out on Strachan’s south peak, bombing down the empty ski runs on the other side (Cypress) was a blast!”
Thanks for the great pics, Pat!
