SPIKES, CRAMPONS, TRACTION, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Crampons come in different variations suited for various activities and terrain. However, the term crampon has become well known as a traction device suited for mountaineering. Similarly, the terms Micro-spike, Ice cleat, and Trail crampon have been adopted to describe a traction device suited for non-technical terrain...
If you hike in the winter especially high mountains like the White Mountains of New Hampshire, these are an absolute necessity. I always tell people don't skimp and buy the cheap ones because literally your life depends on your Trail crampons working well. I switched from another brand years ago and find that I purchased new ones every 2 years and the older ones become what are called Rock spikes used for the shoulder season hiking. The quality of these spikes is great and I will always use them and wouldn't hike in icy or snowy conditions without them.
Thank you for the amazing review! We're glad to know that our Trail Crampons are a necessity for your winter hiking!

Grip for days
I just got done using these while cleaning up a tree that fell during a storm in very muddy conditions. I never felt like I was going to slip and fall. I was able to climb up the hill to put a chain on the tree. Others tried and just keep sliding down the hill. So after that I know 4 other people have ordered these.
I haven't had a chance to use on ice but I'm already 100 percent happy.
Thank you for the kind words! We're happy to hear that these trail crampons proved to be a great grip in muddy conditions - we know they'll also be great for use on icy trails. Thanks for recommending them!

The crampons I bought enabled me to walk all winter on the packed icy lane without hesitation. At least two people who saw me out walking have ordered the same ones I have after I told them how great they work!
