I had been using Kahtoola micro spikes for years, but after losing two micro spikes and making repairs to the rubber webbing, I decided to purchase the Trail Crampton Ultra. I've been using them for several months. They're holding up very well. The rubber webbing is beefier than the Kahtoolas, reducing the possibility of tears, and the Velcro strap that extends over the top of my hiking boots keeps the Trail Crampon Ultras from slipping off.
Highly recommended.
I have always used Kahtoola spikes and wanted to try Hillsounds based on them having more spikes and deal with a lot of ice during winter hike/runs. Super happy thus far, the stretch and fit are perfect. Would definitely buy again and recommend them to anyone that are in the market for a replacement.
The Hillsound Trail Crampon seems to be one of the better made of this type that I have seen.
Hi Deborah, thanks for your feedback! We are happy to hear you are enjoying your Hillsound Trail Crampon Ultra - and hope they allow you to get outside and enjoy winter! Be Safe, Go Wild!
I am using these to walk down the packed snow and ice dirt road on which I live which was treacherous before I received these and put them on for the first time today. I also proceed to the local snowmobile trails ( Northeast Kingdom Vermont ) which are at the end of my road. I couldn't be happier. I ordered the size Small because I was putting these on my snow-hiking boots. A very good snug fit and the top strap is great. I had no slipping on my brisk walking surfaces and my little very strong rat terrier did not pull me over, don't laugh I am a waif and distance runner so his pull is significant. At 63 years old, this is great insurance against injuries that could disrupt my running and hiking, a small price to pay considering the extremely high cost of sick care.
This is my go-to traction device for winter trail running and early spring conditions on trails. They also work very well in mud. The additional velcro strap keeps them more secure.
